The history of GISRUK
First GISRUK
The Geographical Information Science Research UK conference began in 1993 as the UK’s national GIS research conference, which was held at the University of Keele, and was chaired by Prof. Mike Worboys. Since then, GISRUK has been held each year at a wide variety of venues throughout the UK and Republic of Ireland, nurturing a growing community of researchers that regularly contribute to the conference.
For three decades, GISRUK has been acting as a prime hub for the development of GIScience as a scientific field in the UK, where researchers and practitioners from academia and industry share advanced in geospatial science, methods, and technologies in a friendly and welcoming environment.
